On the provocative assassination of Jo Cox
Will it pay off?
History offers a multitude of paradigms, where not-too-intelligent individuals with disordered personalities are dragged into acts of infuriating violence, in order to cause posthumous sympathy & support for their targets and outrage against their supposed cause. Such personalities have probably included Lee Harvey Oswald vs. Kennedy, Leonid Nikolaev vs. Kirov and, to an extent, Van der Lubbe vs. the Reichstag. These concepts immediately come to our mind whenever cases like the recent assassination of Jo Cox occur. She had about the maximum likeability, that a European Community supporter can enjoy. Her image was a far cry from the stereotypical, arrogant, merciless pro-capitalist politician. Apart from her pro-EU attitude, her profile had strongly progressive activist features, including intensive refugee support. The bet is whether public stupidity is so strong, as to cause an overturning of the evident BREXIT majority.
So, it seems that certain political celebrities may be sacrificed at cases where their loss is heavily outweighed by major support and sympathy gains. This can be considered as the most repulsive form of "black propaganda". However, such conspirators should be aware that their potential unmasking in the future, will become a boomerang and reverse by far any initial popularity gains their cause may have attracted in the first place.Let's sincerely hope -and struggle so- that the BREXIT victory won't have the same fate as the GREXIT victory in last year's referendum. After that, we will have the opportunity to discuss how this will be exploited to the maximum possible extent for promoting and accelerating anticapitalist revolution.
